At least 10 people are confirmed dead after a “shooting spree” in Austria – as members of the public are being urged to avoid the area.
Police confirmed the horrific shooting took place at BORG Dreierschützengasse secondary school in the north-west of the city of Gaz, which is Austria’s second largest city.
Officers swarmed to the scene which is around 200km from the main central train station. Austrian special task force Cobra has also been deployed to the horror incident, which unfolded at about 10am local time.

Austrian state broadcaster ORF has reported that at least nine people have been killed following the shooting and that an evacuation is underway at the school where the shots were heard. Pupils and teachers are among the casualties.
Austrian state outlet ORF has reported that police believe the “shooting spree” is believed to have been carried out by a student at BORG Dreierschützengasse.
The suspect is believed to have shot himself in a school toilet.
Members of the public have been asked to avoid the area around the BORG Dreierschützengasse, and to obey the instructions of security forces.
Injured students are being cared for in the nearby Helmut List Hall, according to local media.
